Salutations to all!
My name is Janine Lynette Smith, I am a 20 year old, 3rd Year Physiotherapy student at the University of the Western Cape (UWC), residing in the Fontein of Strand.
Janine Lynette in a nutshell (hopefully not too verbose)
I am classically trained in the art of ballet (as well as contemporary dance, hip hop, modern jazz and African) and I love all things pink (yes I have pink furniture and yes my room is painted pink). I enjoy watching all sports thanks to my father and older brother who are enthusiasts in their own right, although rugby and athletics are followed more religious than the rest. I have dabbled in a bit of netball, badminton and softball myself. I am deeply spiritual and am a staunch, proud, young, catholic woman, who draws great strength from her faith. I adore all things British and I have an affair daily with the English language. Sarcasm and wit are my babies. My favourite television series is Bones as it steers towards the science, is over critical and technical.
From the age of 6 months I’ve been suffering from eczema. Eczema is a dermatological condition where the skin itches, red patches form, rashes, blisters and keloid scar formation results. Relief is only felt when the sufferer literally “breaks open” the skin by scratching, this is also often cathartic for the sufferer, but of course the only way the skin can heal is if creams are applied and the scratching stops. The areas around my eyes were so itchy that I literally scratched till I developed keratoconus, which means my corneas are now oval shaped instead of round and hard contact lenses are needed for correction. My hands have brought so much destruction and pain to my body…Ever since I was little I’ve had this burning desire to help others in their plight of suffering and physiotherapy was my calling to heal.
On a lighter note!!! I’m excited to begin this Ethics course so I’ll start it off I dramatic fashion, “Off with your head!” as Helena Bonham Carter, my favourite actress would say, she totally made the pout famous.
LIVE. LAUGH. LOVE
